Advanced SketchUp for Architecture, Engineering and Construction

By Architects and SketchUp, SketchUp

The video above contains images and footage of projects carried out in SketchUp by architect Paul Lee. Paul introduces his approach to using SketchUp to carry out 2d construction drawings along with his 3d models. We like the construction drawings section and its an interesting insight into the use of SketchUp by an architect – we know its a controversial subject with some architects loving SketchUp and some viewing it as simplistic.

Our view? Some people we have met on our travels take a rather ‘elitist’ view of SketchUp, we think it has been probably one of the most important steps forward in 3D software to date, simply for its ease of use, its mass market availability and while being simple still allowing complex work flows and intricate model creation.

Inside the K6 Phonebox: A 360 x 180 Degree View

By Flash Panorama, K6 Phonebox, Panorama, Panoramic Photography

The K6 Red Phonebox is a classic design by Sir Giles Gilbert Scott who amongst other notable buildings also designed Battersea Power Station. The K6 “Jubilee” model pictured here was built to commemorate the Silver Jubilee of King George V in 1935.

Click ‘Load’ to view the panorama, click and drag to look around and ‘Open’ to view fullscreen. It was a bit of a squeeze to get into the phonebox with all the panorama gear:

We used the term ‘building’ to describe the phonebox as the picurted K6 can be found at Byng Place in Bloomsbury London and is uniquely preserved as a Grade II Listed Building.

Note – apologies for the dismal ‘Load’ button, Flashificator is proving temperamental..
