I miss Canoma too, it is a real shame it was abandoned.

I've used Hugin and CAD with this technique for a long time: http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/surveying/

For somebody with good 3D CAD skills it is very accurate and fast, still it's no use if you want a texture-mapped model.

I love Canoma too!

Have you tried Insight3D? I've just got the Wndows version to run under Wine on my Mac after googling for Canoma: http://insight3d.sourceforge.net/

The one thing I used to get frustrated with Canoma was that even when you 'glue' points together, they never truly line up having imported the model into another application. Lots of follow on work is needed to make coplanar surfaces line up.

SketchUp's PhotoMatch isn't bad at all, and if they included better use of the Google Building Maker, I'd feel as if there wasn't such a void left by Canoma...
