In many ways kml has become the standard language for web based 3D. So we were expecting not to be impressed by <a href="http://upnext.com/">UpNext</a> a newly launched 3D version of New York running in a web browser via Java.</p>
<p>The emphasis from UpNext is on both search and social networking services via the cityscape &#8211; as such its very much local user based  &#8211; as their tag line explains with &#8216;What&#8217;s UpNext in Your City?&#8217;.</p>
<p>The movie below provides a flavour of the model and functionality:</p>
