The movie above illustrates a model of Rome running in realtime and raytraced. The model is running on running on the IBM QS21 Cell/B.E. Blades using iRT ray tracer with display output via a Playstation 3.

Anyone who knows how slow raytracing can be out of the standard 3D packages should be pretty impressed by this…

    i remember when i was kid and used to code for Persistence of Vision (POV); at that time i was leaving the computer on for the night to get a small image in the morning. Sometimes a simple image would require days to calculate – this is pretty awsome!
