Colours: A Live London Weather Dashboard

Here at The Bartlett Centre for Advanced Spatial Analysis we run a Davis Vantage Pro 2 unit with Solar and UV sensors from a rooftop on Tottenham Court Road. The current output is via our live ‘Weather Dials‘ page, which is all singing and dancing, complete with graphs and updates every 2 seconds. Sometimes however there is a need for something simpler, a dashboard style view that changes background colour to a variety of pantone shades according to temperature:

Made with a tablet in mind and to hang on a wall, ‘Colours’ is designed to be a simple weather application for London at a glance, data updates every two seconds.

Updated Live Weather Data From London

We have updated our live weather page with a number of new features. The page updates every 3 seconds with a live feed from a Davis Vantage Pro 2 on the roof of 1-19 Torrington Place, just off Tottenham Court Road in London.

The weather dials now include:

Visual Wind Rose – to show the average wind direction;
Wind Run – an odometer style view of the total distance the wind has travelled in the last 24 hours;
UV Index, showing the current UV level for London.

The page is optimised for a tablet/mobile view – View the live London Weather Dials.

Live London Weather

We have updated our live weather page to work with the iPad/iPhone and other HTML compatible browsers.
The page updates every 3 seconds with a live feed from a Davis Vantage Pro 2 on the roof of 1-19 Torrington Place, just off Tottenham Court Road in London.
For those with the new iPad we have a retina friendly version with a series of 9 large dials and graphs.

Live Weather in Blogger using Ajax: Central London

Below is a test to see if we can embed a live weather feed from our roof here in Central London into the blog:

If its working you should see the data update every 2 seconds. Its a quick and easy way to get live data into a page using Ajax. The layout is an updated version of the excellent original template found at http://www.carterlake.org/webtemplates.php
