Embedding MyMaps into a Blog or Webpage Direct

By Google My Maps

This is now the third post on ‘How to Embed Google MyMaps into a blog’ and finally it has been integrated direct into the Google MyMaps service.

Once you have created your MyMap simply click on the ‘Link to this page’ option and the code is available to cut and paste into a website or blog:
Once your code is inserted your MyMaps will appear directly in a blog post – as illustrated below:

While this is a quick and easy route our original ‘Embedding MyMaps into Blogger‘ tutorial is still preferable as it uses MyMapsPlus which allows the sidebar and thus the key to the map to be included in the page.

To be honest we are not sure why Google left out the option to include the sidebar – given that it is a integral part of the map?

Two days without a post? We know, we know.. sorry about that.

Post will be back to normal tomorrow – up and coming is the HDR tutorial as soon as we get some sunshine to show the advantages of using HDR. We will also be providing details on progress so far with the Second Life Importer and next week more details on the forthcoming Google Earth Creator from CASA. Finally we will be taking a look at the new 3D features in Photoshop CS3.

So some good posts and info soon, for now we have a train to catch thus the lack of posts…

Montreal in Virtual Earth – Movie

By Virtual Earth

Microsoft’s Virtual Earth it could be argued is reaching a tipping point whereby it becomes for the browser of choice for 3D city models.

Yesterday we looked at Toulouse in France, part of the recent layer update released this week. Today we look at Montreal in Canada – another city of their planned 500 over the next 12 months to get the Microsoft Photogrammetric treatment.

The movie below provides a flavour of the model:

Music by The Tartan Rascals

With Microsoft releasing such detailed and large scale models it’ll be interesting to see Google’s responce. We are assuming it’ll be along the lines of new tools for the community to build the city from the bottom up..
