Many scenes in the Hal Roach comedies were shot on the streets of Culver City, California.

Designer and pop culture historian Piet Schreuders has created a computer model of Culver City as it looked in the 20's - and matched-in scenes from Laurel and Hardy comedies that were shot on site, the YouTube movie below is well worth watching:
